This outstandingly handsome apartment is on the second floor of one of Florence's many ancient palazzi. You can see the Vasari corridor in our top photo and the apartment is less than a minute's walk beyond the wide arch you see on the left. Step off the street into the dim cool of this old building and either take the lift or climb the delightfully curving staircase to your front door. Turn the key and step into a long, sunny sitting room with its narrow little balcony through the glass doors at the far end. There's just enough space to sit out and sip a glass of wine as you admire the neighbour's splendid garden - it's an amusing, arty garden with its big grizzly bear, flight of owls and smaller works of art. It's very Tuscan and it feels like a privilege to sit and soak it up in this peaceful haven in the midst of busy, often rather noisy, Florence. If you want a quiet apartment, this is it!
The sitting room is the heart of this apartment - and if you are a party of three then open the bed settee and you'll find it morphs into a comfortable, extra-large single bed. The TV is Italian channels only for those who wish to perfect their Italian. The kitchen is long and narrow and comes equipped with an electric oven, four gas hobs, a dishwasher, a fridge with large freezer and a microwave. The sliding door at the far end of the kitchen opens to reveal a spacious larder, complete with a top loader washing machine, clothes airer and iron etc - all very useful and another feather in the cap of such a pleasant apartment. There's a bright and modern powder room off the sitting room too. The double bedroom is, in line with the rest of the apartment, a bright and pretty room with a huge amount of wardrobe space.
There's a well stocked little supermarket barely 100 yards from your front door and Ponte Vecchio and the Pitti Palace are within a couple of minutes' walk. If you want a guided tour of the Vasari corridor (finally open to the public and a real treat for art lovers) we'll be happy to set this up. Cookery classes are also a possibility and some people have lately told us of the excellent Vespa excursions that are now on offer too - a guided tour of the Florentine countryside with a group of like-minded people all driving Vespas - a fun experience!
Our Apartment Vasari offers a special blend of wonderfully quiet location, handsome furnishings and that delicious little Florentine balcony we suspect you may well fall in love with.
